Direct answer

Start in one AI, pick the work up in another, free

You start the morning in one AI because it is the one that is open. By noon you have hit its limit, or the afternoon task suits a different model, or you move from your desk to your phone. Today, the switch costs you a re-brief: copy the thread, re-attach the files, and write the summary of where things stand, knowing the second AI will work from your summary instead of from the work. People who switch AIs daily pay that tax daily, and it is the main reason multi-AI days feel fragmented. The loop on this page removes it: wrap the job where you are, carry one link, and pick the record up where you land. The pickup is free, always, and the receiving AI gets the steps and their receipts, not your retelling of them.

See the instrument first: the live demo runs one real call and hands you its verifiable receipt, no signup.

The re-briefing tax

A summary is a lossy copy, and every switch re-copies. The first AI's reasoning about why a draft reads the way it does, the dead end it already tried, the number it checked twice: whatever you forget to repeat is gone, and you always forget something, because the summary is written under time pressure at exactly the moment the switch was forced on you. Worse, the second AI cannot check anything it is told. It receives your paste the way a new hire receives a rumor: as something to build on carefully or re-derive from scratch, and re-deriving is the tax paid a second time in calls and minutes. The tax scales with the habit. An occasional switcher pays it rarely; a daily switcher, the person running several AIs as one working day, pays it every single day, and organizes real work around avoiding it, staying in a worse tool because leaving is expensive. Moving the record instead of the summary is what makes the tax optional.

The switcher's loop

1. Wrap where you are

Before you leave the first AI, call handover: the job's steps and their receipts, a plain summary, and the next steps, sealed into one record. The wrap is the day's free wrap-up. Wrap while you still have room to do it well, not after the limit wall forces the move; the record you make in calm is the record the next AI inherits. What a complete wrap contains is spelled out in the AI handover document guide.

2. Carry one link

The handover is a link, and links travel through anything: paste it into the other AI, send it to yourself, leave it in your notes. Or skip the link entirely and tell the new AI to continue your Zambo session; the resume path finds the job from your caller handle. No export format, no file bundle, no re-upload of attachments: the record lives at the endpoint, https://zambo.dev/mcp, and the link is just the address of it.

3. Pick up where you land

In the second AI, handover_accept picks the job up. Pickup is always free and burns no quota: it does not count against the day's 20 free calls in either AI. The receiving AI gets the steps in order, the receipts, the saved results, and the written next steps, and it can verify any receipt before building on it. It starts from the record of the work, which is a different starting point than a confident summary of the work.

4. Continue, then wrap again

The second AI works, and its calls add their own receipts under AER-1, draft-zambo-aer1-26, to the same chain. When it is time to move again, or to stop for the day, it wraps in turn. A day that crossed three AIs is then one continuous record with three authors, not three partial threads stranded in three apps, and tomorrow's first AI picks the whole day up in one free step.

Standing proof: two handovers that still read back

These are not screenshots of a demo. They are records created when handover shipped in October 2026, read back live on November 2, 2026, while this page was being written. Open them; they are the product working in public, weeks after the sessions that made them ended.

The records, live

Why pickup is free

20 calls + 1 wrap-up free every day. Picking up in another AI is always free. That second sentence is a design position: continuity is the front door of Zambo, so the door is not tolled. The meter sits on doing new work and on wrapping past the day's free wrap-up, never on reading your own record back. Count a normal switcher's day: work in the first AI inside its calls, one wrap (free), one pickup in the second AI (free), work there inside the same day's allowance. The entire switch costs nothing beyond the work itself. The pricing appears exactly where the use becomes heavy: several wraps a day, every day, which is what the Day Pass, $0.99 for 24 unlimited hours including unlimited wrap-ups, and the Pass exist for.

Why it compounds

A switch that costs nothing stops being an event and becomes a habit, and the habit is what compounds. Multi-AI days accumulate one chain of receipts instead of resetting context at every hop, so the record of a project shows which AI did what, in order, checkable step by step: an audit trail a client or a teammate can read without asking you to reconstruct it. The second-order effect is on the work itself. Knowing the next AI receives the record, not a summary, the first AI's session can be spent working instead of documenting for a retelling, and the receiving AI spends its calls continuing instead of re-deriving. Every hop that preserves the record makes the next hop cheaper, which is the whole difference between using several AIs and juggling them.

What a record does not settle

A verifiable receipt proves the saved result was not changed since it was saved; it does not prove the first AI's answer was right, its approach was the best one, or its summary was complete. Pickup moves evidence, not trust: the receiving AI should still judge the work it inherits, and now it can, because it holds the steps and receipts instead of a story about them. This page is general information, not legal advice.

Frequently asked questions

How do I pick up my work in another AI?

Three steps, all against https://zambo.dev/mcp. In the AI where the work is, call handover to wrap the job: the steps, their receipts, a summary, and the next steps, sealed into one record with a link. Carry that link, or its resume code, into the other AI and call handover_accept there, or simply say: Continue my Zambo session. The second AI receives the record itself, not a summary you retyped, and continues from the written next steps. The wrap is the day's free wrap-up; the pickup is free as well.

Is picking up in another AI really free?

Yes. The free tier is 20 calls + 1 wrap-up free every day, and picking up in another AI is always free: handover_accept burns no quota and does not count against the 20 calls. That is a design decision, not a promotion. Continuity is the front door of Zambo, so reading your own record is never the tolled step; the meter sits on new work and on wraps past the day's free one. One full switch a day, a wrap in the first AI and a pickup in the second, fits inside the free tier entirely.

What does the other AI actually receive?

The record, not a retelling. The handover carries the job's steps in order, each with its verifiable receipt and saved result, the deliverables, the summary the first session wrote, and the next steps it left. The receiving AI can open any receipt and check the saved result itself before building on it, which is the difference between continuing work and believing a summary of work. Nothing needs to be re-uploaded, re-explained, or re-derived: the context moves as evidence.

What do the two handovers on this page prove?

They are standing records, not screenshots. One handover sits open with 5 steps; the other was accepted with 4 steps, and its chain root still reads back. Both were created when handover shipped in October 2026 and were read back live on November 2, 2026, for this page: still openable, still checkable, weeks after the sessions that made them ended. Pickup therefore works across time as well as across apps, and an accepted handover shows the full loop closing: one side wrapped, another side picked it up and accepted the record.

What if I switch AIs more than once a day?

Every pickup stays free, however often you switch. The wraps are the metered side: the first wrap-up of the day is free, and a day built out of several switches, a wrap in each AI you leave, is the shape the Day Pass is priced for: $0.99 makes the endpoint, https://zambo.dev/mcp, unlimited for 24 hours, including unlimited wrap-ups, no subscription: get the Day Pass. Ongoing use is the Zambo Pass at $29 a month or $290 a year, and $19 a month for $ZAMBO holders.
