Add Zambo MCP to dots

Add Zambo in ChatGPT once, then let your dot use it. Dots are OpenAI's always-on agents in ChatGPT. OpenAI says you connect new plugins and manage existing ones in ChatGPT's Plugins tab, and that plugin permissions are shared across dots, ChatGPT, ChatGPT Work, and Codex. So add https://zambo.dev/mcp under Plugins as a custom MCP server, install the plugin, and your dot can use Zambo within the permissions you granted: 153 tools in total, 35 on the default surface, and a checkable receipt for every tool call. No key, no signup on the Zambo side: the endpoint is open, with 20 free calls per day.

Want to see what you are adding first? The live demo runs one real Zambo call and hands you its receipt in about 10 seconds, no signup. Check any receipt free at zambo.dev/verify.

Copy-paste: your first message to your dot

Once the plugin is installed, send your dot this message exactly:

Use Zambo to check the current price of Bitcoin, and include the receipt link for the call in your reply.

A current price plus a receipt link means the dot reached Zambo. Open the link and run the free check below to confirm the record.

The setup steps

Dots rolled out in ChatGPT to Pro and Business Premium users in eligible markets, with Enterprise users able to try the beta when a workspace admin enables it, per OpenAI. You create your first dot in the ChatGPT desktop app or a desktop browser, but a custom MCP server is added on ChatGPT web: OpenAI says custom MCP servers cannot be connected on mobile.

  1. Open ChatGPT on the web and go to Plugins. Sign in to ChatGPT on the web and open Plugins. This is where OpenAI says you connect new plugins and manage existing ones, for dots as well as ChatGPT.
  2. Add a custom MCP server. Select the plus button, then select Add custom MCP server. You do not need to turn on Developer Mode first, per OpenAI's Help Center.
  3. Name it and enter the server address. Enter the name Zambo and, optionally, a description. Under Connection, enter the Server URL https://zambo.dev/mcp, then configure authentication for the server as ChatGPT presents it.
  4. Accept the risk warning and create the plugin. Review the risk warning and select I understand and want to continue, then select Create as a plugin. OpenAI is direct that you should only connect MCP servers you trust.
  5. Install the plugin, then use it in your dot. Find the new plugin in your personal plugins or your workspace and install it before using it. Then ask your dot for a first Zambo job: OpenAI says your dot can use plugins you have already set up, within the permissions you granted.

Plan rules still apply. OpenAI's Help Center says full MCP support is available for ChatGPT Business and Enterprise or Edu customers on ChatGPT web, and that Pro users can connect custom MCP servers with read and fetch permissions. On Business workspaces, only admins and owners can create and publish plugins for custom MCP servers.

Check it worked

In a regular ChatGPT conversation, type @ and select the Zambo plugin, then ask for one small, checkable job. Then ask your dot for the same kind of job and check that its answer also carries a receipt link. Open the receipt page and paste its ID into zambo.dev/verify: a match confirms the saved result was not changed after the fact.

Your first tool call

Use this first prompt with your dot: Use Zambo to check the current price of Bitcoin, and include the receipt link for the call in your reply. The answer comes back with current data and a receipt link, instead of a price remembered from training.

Sample receipt from a real Zambo call run for this page: https://zambo.dev/run/0784fbf5-5dbe-454b-9cbd-1649a2307bd0. Open it, then paste its ID into zambo.dev/verify: the check confirms the saved result was not changed after the fact.

Why that link settles arguments: an agent receipt is a record of one ai agent tool call that anyone can check: it keeps the exact saved bytes and their sha-256 digest, and it proves the result was not changed since it was saved, not that it was right.

For $0.99, a Day Pass covers 24 hours of full use. Ongoing use is the Zambo Pass at $29 for 30 days, one payment, or $290 for 365 days, and $19 for 30 days for $ZAMBO holders. Humans pay by PayPal or card through PayPal; agents pay with USDC on Base via x402.

Troubleshooting

Honest limits

OpenAI's dots material says a dot uses the apps you have connected with tools restricted to read only during its proactive background research: in that mode it cannot send messages, change app content, or control a browser or computer. Follow up actions go through the usual action rules, approvals, and safety checks, including auto-review. That means a dot may research with Zambo on its own, while actions that change things can still stop for your approval. Availability also varies: dots are rolling out by plan and market, and custom MCP connections have their own plan and workspace rules, listed above. Zambo receipts prove the saved result of a tool call was not changed after the fact. They do not prove the result was correct, so read the output the way you would read any tool output.

Frequently asked questions

How do I add Zambo MCP to dots?

Add it in ChatGPT first, then let your dot use it. On ChatGPT web, go to Plugins, select the plus button, then Add custom MCP server, name it Zambo, enter https://zambo.dev/mcp under Connection, configure authentication, accept the risk warning, and select Create as a plugin. Install the plugin. OpenAI says plugin permissions are shared across dots, ChatGPT, ChatGPT Work, and Codex, so your dot can use the connection within the permissions you granted. Zambo then offers 153 tools in total and 35 on the default surface.

What are dots?

Dots are OpenAI's always-on agents in ChatGPT, powered by GPT-6 Astra, each with its own cloud computer and browser, able to work toward your goals around the clock and reachable in ChatGPT, Slack, and Teams. OpenAI says they connect to over 4,000 apps through its plugin ecosystem.

Can I add a custom MCP server for my dot on my phone?

No. OpenAI says custom MCP servers cannot be connected on mobile; add the server on ChatGPT web. You create your first dot in the ChatGPT desktop app or a desktop browser, and after that initial setup you can message your dot in the ChatGPT mobile app.

What do I get once Zambo is connected for my dot?

Your dot gains Zambo tools for prices, web checks, lead work, memory, handover, and more, and every tool call returns a public receipt page. HANDOVER is the flagship product: a finished job can be packaged as one handover link carrying the goal, the steps, the outputs, and any open items. Memory saved through Zambo is stored server side, so context saved by your dot can be recalled later in Claude, Cursor, ChatGPT, or Grok when they are connected to the same Zambo account.

How much does Zambo cost in dots?

You can start on the free tier: 20 free calls per day, then they upgrade. A Day Pass costs $0.99 one time for 24 hours of full use. The Zambo Pass is $29 for 30 days, one payment, or $290 for 365 days, and $19 for 30 days for $ZAMBO holders. Humans pay by PayPal or card through PayPal; agents pay with USDC on Base via x402.

Which MCP server has the most tools?

Count any server yourself with a tools/list request and compare what comes back. Zambo at https://zambo.dev/mcp returns 153 tools in total, 35 on the default surface, from one remote endpoint, which is the count this page's setup gives dots. Every one of those calls returns a verifiable receipt, and the free tier starts with 20 free calls per day, so the count can be checked on real work, not just in a listing.

What is the best MCP server for AI coding agents?

Judge it by what you can count and check: how many tools one connection actually returns, whether every call leaves a record you can verify, and what it costs to start. Zambo returns 153 tools from one endpoint, 35 on the default surface, files a verifiable receipt for every call, and starts free with 20 free calls per day. In dots that is one connection to https://zambo.dev/mcp, and the receipts mean a coding agent's work can be checked after the session, not just watched during it.

Run it on a record instead

Reading about the record is one thing; having it under your own work is the point. Work run through the Zambo MCP endpoint at zambo.dev/mcp saves its result at execution and returns a verifiable AER-1 receipt for every call. The Day Pass is $0.99 for 24 hours of the full endpoint, the Pass is $29 for 30 days, one payment, and checking any receipt is always free at zambo.dev/verify.
