AER-1 corpus vectors / Merkle vectors
one-step-single-receipt
Family: Merkle vectors. Source: base/merkle-vectors.json in the AER-1 corpus published at zambo.dev/aer1/corpus.json (kit 1.5.7, draft-zambo-aer1-26), file SHA-256 8c76473616ba909fab61cdb96d3e432f3e91b322833716d494e7afc92ad13a25.
What this vector covers
One-step workflow: the Section 8.1 leaf digest is itself the merkle_root, no pairing occurs. Added 2026-10-12 at the request of implementer Iman Schrock (Emilia Protocol), whose report identified Sections 8.5/8.7 describing the root over step output hashes where Section 8.1 specifies receipt identifiers. Live workflow 6b6952a5-ab1f-4596-a0b3-a352c137cb41 anchors this vector: the reference server aligned to Section 8.1 on 2026-10-12 and its API now returns this vector's root (7c90f65a...) for the workflow; before the alignment it returned 62780c8f..., the output-hash root.
Rule it exercises
draft-zambo-aer1 Section 8.1 (normative): leaf = SHA-256 over UTF-8 bytes of receipt_id; internal node = SHA-256 over raw 32-byte left || raw 32-byte right; odd node duplicated.
Input
The vector input, exactly as published in the corpus:
{
"receipt_ids": [
"4028dabb-3d12-4960-855c-639ce37f14cc"
]
}
Expected result
expected_root: 7c90f65aeccd214f8bb583bec76878d5f463d65b9b26c11e07c51dd59be814d5expected_workflow_verdict: valid
Checks it exercises
| Check | Requirement | Why |
|---|---|---|
| root | must-pass | The corpus records expected_root as 7c90f65aeccd214f8bb583bec76878d5f463d65b9b26c11e07c51dd59be814d5 for this vector. A correct run must produce this root value. |
